Who we are and what we do

Who We Are

The Hobnob Hobby Club exists to bring people together through creativity, curiosity, and connection. We host thoughtfully designed gatherings that make it easy to try new hobbies, meet new people, and feel more connected to the community around you. Think of it like Adult Girl Scouts (but not just for girls) with collectible badges to come!

What we Believe

Graphics including two women’s faces, scissors, a watering can with a flower, a strawberry, a paintbrush, a cup with a heart-shaped plant, and the words "Hobnob" and "Club" on a yellow background with black checkered borders.

Curiosity over expertise

You don’t need to be “good” at something to enjoy it. We believe ins showing up curious, open, and willing to try. The rest will follow.

Connection comes first

Hobbies are the excuse; people are the point. Every Hobnob gathering is designed to spark conversation, shared experience, and real connection.

Play is powerful

Joy, silliness, whimsy, and creativity aren’t extras in life - they’re essential. We embrace play as a way to learn, heal, and build confidence at any age.

Community is the craft

We’re proud to partner with local artists, makers, and small businesses. Hobnob is rooted in place and build to strengthen the community we call home.

Low pressure, high warmth

No cliques. No expectations. Just welcoming spaces where everyone can participate at their own pace.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Alison and I’ve always loved bringing people together around shared experiences.

For the past fourteen years, I’ve been an entrepreneur and an educator, running a private practice as a dyslexia therapist here in Colorado Springs. I’ve loved my students deeply, but over time I found myself craving more lightness, more curiosity, and more room to play. I wanted to create spaces where learning felt joyful, connection felt natural, and creativity didn’t come with pressure or performance.

As a ceramicist, In 2020, that pull led me to jump headfirst into opening a membership-based ceramics studio for independent potters right next door to my literacy center. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something more meaningful: a community of women artists supporting and learning from one another. I even began bringing my students next door to work with clay as a reward for their learning milestones- and watching their confidence bloom through creativity was a turning point for me. It reminded me how powerful art can be when it’s tied to joy, play, and exploration instead of expectation.

Then, in 2021, my husband and I launched Boogie Nights, a 70’s themed disco dance party that turned out to be about so much more than music and a dance floor. I built in playful, unexpected ways for people to interact- little moments of connection that made it easy to strike up a conversation or make a new friend. Watching strangers become regulars, and regulars become community, lit me up in a way I couldn’t ignore.

The Hobnob Hobby Club is the natural next chapter- a place where all these threads come together.

Starting May 1st, 2026, I’ll be retiring from my work as a dyslexia therapist to pour my heart into building this club: a welcoming whimsical community centered on trying new hobbies, exploring creativity, and connecting more deeply with the city I was raised in. Colorado Springs is vast, beautiful, and full of incredible people and small businesses - and yet it can feel surprisingly disconnected. Hobnob exists to gently change that.

Our gatherings are designed to be fun, spirited, a little silly, and thoughtfully curated- often heavily decorated, always low-pressure. We partner with local artists and buisnesses, host hands-on arts and crafts experiences, and plan tours and field trips that invite you to see our city (and each other) in a new way. No expertise required. Just your natural curiosity and a willingness to show up and mingle.

At its heart, The Hobnob Hobby Club is about making new memories, fostering friendship, and building a stronger sense of belonging- one hobby at a time.

I’m so glad you’re here. Come for the hobby, stay for the hobnobbing.
